Provide higher quality 3D images for radiologists, a more comfortable mammography experience for patients and enhanced workflow for technologists.

Conventional mammogram is a 2D image. The diagnostic power is limited by overlapping tissues. 3D mammogram captures multiple slices of the breast, all at different angles. Multiple images of the breast are reconstructed into 1mm thin slice of the breast. The radiologist is then able to review the reconstructed images, one thin slice at a time.

With this technology, overlapping glandular tissue can be removed and cancers can be more accurately diagnosed. It has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of United States as a screening and diagnostic tool for breast cancer.

Tissue Biopsy Services

Affirm® Prone Breast Biopsy System

Our centre is the first in Hong Kong that provides advanced stereotactic guided biopsy using 3D mammogram technique in 2014. In 2016, the first Prone Breast Tomosynthesis Biopsy System in Asia has been installed in our Central Buidling centre.

Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA)

Tomosynthesis Guided Breast Biopsy

It is important to localize the lesion accurately to get a good tissue sample. Our centre is the first in Hong Kong that provides advanced stereotactic guided biopsy using 3D mammogram technique in 2014. In 2016, the first Prone Breast Tomosynthesis Biopsy System in Asia has been installed in our Central Buidling centre.

It is suitable for biopsy of breast microcalcifications, masses, asymmetric densities and architectural distortions. Under tomosynthesis guidance, vacuum assisted biopsy with marker placement or core biopsy method can be chosen for tissue sampling.

Prone Breast Tomosynthesis Biopsy System

The system is designed with patients' physical and emotional comfort in mind. Direct view of the biopsy needle is eliminated and thus reduce patients stress. We can quickly identify, target and access lesions using tomosynthesis to help reduce procedure time.
