The First Philips Spectral CT7500 CT Scanner

in Hong Kong at Central Building

Spectral CT

Spectral CT is an imaging technology that allows clinicians to differentiate the various elements in the body based on their material density and atomic number, providing both anatomical and tissue composition information.

In-stent plaque can be shown clearly

CT Coro 4

Spectral CT

Z effective image

Different structures with different effective atomic numbers are shown in different colours. Plaque in stent is demonstrated clearly

Mammography (Services are provided at Hong Kong Women's Imaging)

  • Conventional mammogram is a 2D image.  The diagnostic power is limited by overlapping tissues.  3D mammogram captures multiple slices of the breast, all at different angles. Multiple images of the breast are reconstructed into 1mm thin slice of the breast.  The radiologist is then able to review the reconstructed images, one thin slice at a time.

  • With this technology, overlapping glandular tissue can be removed and cancers can be more accurately diagnosed. It has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of United States as a screening and diagnostic tool for breast cancer.

Ultrasound Guided Biopsy Services are provided at Hong Kong Medical Imaging, Hong Kong Women's Imaging, and Hong Kong MRI

Fine Needle Aspiration
(FNA)
Core Biopsy
Vacuum Assisted Biopsy/Excision
  • Day procedure, no skin incision

  • For cytological analysis only, may need biopsy for further evaluation

  • Mainly for cystic lesion

  • Day procedure under local anaesthesia

  • No skin incision

  • Aim at tissue sampling for histology.   It allows tumour marker analysis and to differentiate invasive or in-situ cancer

  • Minimally invasive procedure

  • Day procedure under local anaesthesia

  • Small skin wound, suture not necessary

  • Can remove lesion completely.

  • Sampling size larger than core biopsy and fine needle aspiration, thus more accurate result

  • Can replace open surgery for removal of benign lesion such as fibroadenoma
